OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood – a great game! Right exactly what I expected after I finished the first one. Highly recommend.
The first game was not so bad, but raw a bit. Anyway the guys at Roll7 invented a cool concept and successfully used it in next game. Gameplay is just like a mother’s gameplay, but everything was improved. It seems that developers read my review of the first OlliOlli game and worked on the weaknesses that I have mentioned 🙂
It is still “Indie,
pixels, 2D and skateboard”. The game is divided into five locations – five worlds, each of them contains five levels. Move from left to the right, performing tricks, getting points, reaching the goal. Become pro, and again, one more time through all the levels, but in their pro-variation.
The levels are short, and it’s a feature. Need to replay levels over and over again, until finally the goal is reached. Each level takes to complete five tasks: to score points, collect items, perform a trick, etc.
Tricks are executed by left analog stick like tricks in S.K.A.T.E. Need to press cross button for landing. Pressed wrong – go to hell.
They saved all the game modes. Rad mode is available in addition to career. It takes to pass all levels with perfect landing. Each career level provided by spot level. Same kind of levels, but without missions. Just for score leaderboard. Same Daily Grind mode – daily updated level which gives you only one try to setting a world record.
Well, firstly, the difficulty! Enhanced, finally. It’s perfect now. This game is a great challenge, but non-irritating. Probably due to the fact that the levels are short. Seems a little strange to me that they improve difficulty to pass levels, rather than the execution of tricks. But it’s ok. Anyway it is arcade game, not a simulator.
Graphics, landscapes, design – it was poor in the first game. Now it is appropriate level to scope of indie. The game looks very nice. Cool levels. Skateboard flips pretty.
Levels have become much more interesting. Inclined surfaces appear. Introduced something like lunch pads (although I annoyed timing of them). Secrets hidden well, and now it’s the heads of the development team, lol.
Oh thank goodness! Finally they assigned restart to triangle button! Removed the touch control and began to think with brain.
One small thing … Punk Rock was not added to the game 🙁

A few of new flips and slides. Gorgeous Dark Slide, for example, and damn cool Kickflip Underflip. Nice double flips, but they are, however, performed as separate tricks, not overexposed flips.
We have promised manual‘s on this game – a most important update in my opinion, hurray! You can now keep everything in a single combo. Infinite combo! Unfortunately, here is only two of manuals: Normal one and Nose Manual.
Added Revert‘s. You can perform revert when landing a flip. And during a grind once. From Dark Slide to Crocked Grind if you really want xD
The game has become more interesting. It is possible now to focus on different things, have various strategies.
Grab tricks, by the way, missed again. Put them in, please, into the third part.
